The Rutgers–Maryland game at Yankee Stadium on Nov. 4 will already be a special one. The Scarlet Knights are making it even more special with special all-black uniforms.
Rutgers, starving for a return to national relevance after winning just six total games the last two seasons, is entering the second year of the Chris Ash era. Ash went 2-10 in 2016 — his first year as a head coach at any level — and 0-9 in the Big Ten. They were shut out in four of those nine conference losses.
"Right now I feel really good about our football team,'' an optimistic Ash said in late June. "I feel like we're much improved in a lot of areas. We still have some work to do in some areas. We have to create some depth at spots, but I really like our chemistry, our work ethic is great, our attitude is outstanding."
