Bennett College Basketball Value Picks for Tuesday, Feb. 6

Bennett College Basketball Value Picks for Tuesday, Feb. 6

There are 26 games today, Tuesday, February 6 in college basketball. Big game of the day is BennettRank #No. 6 Kentucky (17-6) squaring off away v. BennettRank No. 22 Tennessee (17-5).

We had a hot week last week, winning 75 percent of our bets.  We were 2-1 yesterday, losing our admittedly marginal bet on Rutgers (+3) but winning both our OVER/UNDER bids.

We are betting on all away games today.  Vegas seems to give more credit to home field advantage today than we do.

TODAY February 6: Bennett Pick Summary

BENNETT Spread Picks:
Miami (OH) +7.5 v. Western Michigan
Tennessee +2.5 v. Kentucky
Nebraska +3.5 v. Minnesota
Boise State -1.5 v. New Mexico

BENNETT Over/Under Picks:
No. 1: Penn State @ Princeton +138 OVER
No. 2: Buffalo @ Central Michigan +161 UNDER
No 3: Central Florida @ Cincinnati +122 OVER
No 4: Eastern Michigan @ Kent State + 136 OVER
No 5: Michigan @ Northwestern +129 OVER

Daily, we recommend 1-10 games that have the most differential between the Bennett Spread and the Vegas Spread, and some games with a significant over/under differential which is way off what our models suggest. When there are more games played, we tend to have more Bennett Value Picks.

The Bennett Power Score (BPS) was created as a point spread predictor on a neutral court. BPS is based on adjusted margins of victory and strength of schedule for games played to date. More recent games are weighted more heavily. These are updated twice daily as scores are reported and are the foundation for BennettRank (BR). BR ranks all major college sports and divisions twice daily. See all current basketball rankings here.

BENNETT SPREAD PICKS

Miami (OH) +7.5 over Western Michigan

TEAM BPS  VEGAS Line BENNETT Line LAST 5
Miami

77.0

+7.5 +3.4 4-1
@ Western Michigan 77.5 -7.5 -3.4 2-3
Neutral Court Spread -.5

These are two evenly matched teams with near identical power scores and Miami playing better ball of late. Home field advantage should be about 3 points; we see a seven-point spread here and need to pounce on it.

Tennessee +2.5 over Kentucky

TEAM BPS  VEGAS Line BENNETT Line LAST 5
Tennessee

95.5

+2.5 -1.3 5-0
@ Kentucky 91.2 -2.5 +1.3 2-3
Neutral Court Spread 4.3

These are two good teams with BennettRank No. 6 Tennessee squaring off away against BennettRank No. 22 Kentucky. Both teams are in the top 10 for strength of schedule. This will be a barn burner and outcome will depend upon which team plays better defense; Tennessee has so far this season and we see them winning outright at the buzzer.

Nebraska +3.5 over Minnesota

TEAM BPS  VEGAS Line BENNETT Line LAST 5
Nebraska

87.0

+3.5 +.6 4-1
@ Minnesota 83.4 -3.5 -.6 0-5
Neutral Court Spread 3.6

Ouch. On paper this shouldn't be pretty. Minnesota losing the last 5, but mostly to better teams, and Nebraska is another one of those better teams, and is on somewhat of a roll, winning their last three.

Minnesota is playing for pride at home, which nearly overcomes the neutral court spread. This one will go down to the wire, which is why we are comfortable with Nebraska getting this done +3.5.

Boise State -1.5 over New Mexico

TEAM BPS  VEGAS Line BENNETT Line LAST 5
Boise State

88.7

-1.5 -4.7 4-1
@ New Mexico 81.0 +1.5 +4.7 1-4
Neutral Court Spread 7.7

This isn't about who will win; but by how much. Boise State has won four its last five, and New Mexico is the reverse at 1-4. On a neutral court, we have Boise State by almost eight points. Boise State (BennettRank No. 49)  should handle the BennettRank No. 119 team in the country.  The outcome shouldn't be in doubt.
