BR-114 Tarleton State
held on to the No. 8 position in the latest NCAA South Central Regional Rankings released by the NCAA Wednesday afternoon.
The TexAnns, who debuted at No. 8 in last week’s first poll, stayed still after splitting two games last week. Tarleton fell at No. 4 West Texas A&M last Wednesday but bounced back with a win in Wisdom Gym against Eastern New Mexico Saturday.BR-13 West Texas A&M
holds on to the top spot for the second straight week while BR-85 Colorado Mesa
jumped up to No. 2 and BR-55 Midwestern State
fell to No. 3 after the Mustangs were defeated in San Angelo by the Rambelles last week. BR-105 Colorado-Colorado Springs
holds on to its No. 4 spot.
The No. 5, 6 and 7 spots just ahead of Tarleton saw no change from last week’s poll as Arkansas-Fort Smith, Cameron and Colorado State-Pueblo continue to lock down those spots. Fort Lewis jumped into the mix for the first time at No. 9 while Regis dropped one spot to No. 10 while Metro State fell out of the poll.
The TexAnns have qualified for six NCAA regional tournaments, including five consecutive trips.
The NCAA South Central regional tournament will consist of the tournament champions of the Lone Star, Rocky Mountain Athletic and Heartland conferences as well as five at-large teams. The top seed in the region will be the tournament host.
Tarleton is in Abilene tonight for a 4 p.m. game against McMurry and will return home Saturday for the regular season finale against Texas A&M-Commerce at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
