The Red Dragons, from upstate New York, earned the trip to Kansas City in dramatic fashion with a Golden Goal from Dylan Williams in overtime to beat Haverford, 1-0, in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament.
The victory for the Red Dragons extended their winning streak to 10 games, while the loss ended Haverford’s 16-game winning streak. The victory also earned Oneonta a Final Four matchup against Amherst Friday with a berth in the national championship game on Saturday on the line.
The Red Dragons were playing a man down before cashing in on its first opportunity of the overtime on a corner kick against Haverford. Senior Greg Silvestro served a great ball into the box on the far post where it was tipped by Williams across the goal line to end the match.
