It feels like these games keep getting bigger.
After a week away from college football, the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will go on the road this Saturday for a night game in Baton Rouge against the No. 13 LSU Tigers. Anyone who knows anything about the SEC, and how the Tigers play at home in primetime night games, will understand this isn't just another merry stop on the way to Alabama walking off with the FBS Championship. This is going to be brutal and hard hitting and it will be the biggest test of Nick Saban and his squad so for in 2016.
This hype video sets the scene perfectly. The first thing we have to note here is the music choice. It seems like every hype video on YouTube these days has some heavy rock or rap soundtrack. This one though goes for one of those classic football riffs that probably featured on the very first Jock Jams album. It is one of those pieces of music that you hear and you immediately think football and specifically football that matters. This is not the soundtrack to a couple of bottom tier Sun Belt teams playing, this is a football game that has consequences.
Alabama and LSU have allowed six rushing touchdowns COMBINED so far this season. That is a stunning number and it shows the level of defense that both can play if they bring their top level games with them. There are many that think Alabama deserve to be ranked #1 and #2 considering how dominant they have been this fall, but watching this video you get a sense that walking into such a hostile environment with the stadium rocking and the Tigers knowing that wrecking Saban's season is a possibility, that this is going to be a contest for all four quarters.
Thankfully we don't have to wait that long to see if that is the case.
