Former UNC QB Marquise Williams: “If I Ever See Rashad McCants I’ll Probably Square Up With Him.”

As I mentioned last week, former North Carolina basketball star Rashad McCants isn't mincing his words when it comes to his feelings surrounding the current NCAA allegations against his alma mater.

In 2014, McCants — who was a starter on the the 2004-05 national title team — came out publicly claiming UNC kept him and other players academically eligible through fake classes and minimal attendance, while noting current hoops coach Roy Williams was fully complicit with the scheme.

McCants made headlines again recently after an interview with the Charlotte News and Observer where he stuck by his claim and added a few harsh words about Williams in particular.

"The things he's done and said and denied, I just can't respect," McCants told the News and Observer. "As a coach, he's a great coach and deserving of the Hall of Fame and everything that's coming to him. But as a man, I don't have anything to say."

Bruh if I ever see Rashad Mccants I'll probably square up with him

McCants' animosity and claims toward his alma mater haven't rested well with former Tar Heel athletes. We won't know if there's any merit until the NCAA investigation wraps up, but even if there's some truth, McCants' actions are viewed by many as turning his back on the place that gave him opportunity.

Marquise Williams — who was the starting QB for the UNC football team from 2013-2015 — took to Twitter to send a message to McCants.

If you aren't familiar with the term "square up with him," it refers to the desire to fight someone, similar to how two boxers "square up" in a ring.

While it probably isn't the best look for Williams, I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen more pushback from UNC alum toward McCants. So many of these former players love UNC and will do anything to protect its reputation — which doesn't mesh well with a disgruntled player attempting to sabotage the university.

It's safe to say McCants won't be coming anywhere near Chapel Hill for a while. Now we sit back, relax and wait to see how the investigation unfolds.
