Who's ready for some competitive Big Ten volleyball playing this year? We sure are. The Michigan State women's volleyball team is as well. The Spartans were one of nine Big Ten squads that made the second round of the D1 women's volleyball tournament in 2015.
We spoke to head coach Cathy George about what we can expect from her team this season.

HERO: Which players will log significant minutes for your team this year?
Coach George: I don’t have the answer for that right now. Right now we have more depth then we ever had. We have quality players for every position, so I hesitate to make those calls early.
HERO: What will be the biggest difference between this year's team and last year's team?
George: The added depth has gotten the team strong and confident, they have pushed themselves hard. The different is now is that they are older. Majority of players are now seasoned veterans. We continue to work on our on weaknesses and maturity has a team.
HERO: Which newcomer(s) do you think will make the biggest impact for your team this season?
George: I’m very pleased with our incoming players. They are all handling themselves well, they’re very solid and seasoned and ready to contribute. So it’s also early to judge that at the moment.
HERO: Which player(s) do you expect to lead the team this season? Please name the captains if you know them.
George: Junior Setter, Rachel Minarick, and Senior Outside Hitter, Chloe Reinig.
HERO: Is there one game you have circled on your calendar as your "Game of the Year"?
George: Not sure just yet. There are so many good games throughout the year. Every night is a different game and we have to be prepared to play every game.
HERO: Is there anything else you want fans to know about your team?
George: We are in a really good place right now. The girls are ready to go. They’re hungry, focused, driven, pushing and working their butts off. Very pleased with what I’m seeing.
