If the Huskies are to end that postseason drought, it will be with new-look squad as four of last year's seniors signed to professional clubs this summer. Despite the attrition, the team went 5-3 in the spring season, and will look to compete with conference powerhouses Stanford and UCLA 2016.
Redshirt junior Scott Menzies stepped up in the spring, leading the team in goals scored. The squad has a few veterans leading the way in defensive captain Justin Schmidt and redshirt junior M/F Danny Gavin. Auden Schilder will lead the team from between the posts after 2015 starting keeper Ryan Herman was selected by FC Dallas in the first round of the MLS Draft.

What Else? Washington kicks off its season with an exhibition game at New Mexico — the school where head coach Jamie Clark got his start as an assistant. It's also the hometown of Huskies assistant coach Jeff Rowland and fifth-year senior Justin Schmidt. Even though it's an exhibition, these Huskies have something to prove to their hometown fans and will look to begin the season on the right foot.
