The 64-team NCAA D1 Softball Tournament field was announced last night. Thirty-two of the teams received an automatic qualification based on conference tournament championships, while the remaining 32 teams were selected on an at-large basis.
Regionals will be held May 20-22 on 16 campus sites. Each of these sites will host a four-team double-elimination tournament and the 16 winners will advance to the Super Regionals.
Super Regionals for the championship will be held May 26-29 on eight campus sites. At each site, two teams will play in a best-of-three tournament format. The winners from each site advance to Oklahoma City for the 2016 Women’s College World Series.
