D2 Baseball HERO of the Week (7)

Time once again for our weekly look at some the top single-game performances in D2 college baseball – the nominees for HERO of the Week!

The only way to vote is the poll at the bottom of the page. Once you’ve made your voice heard, be sure to share with friends so they can vote as well, and check back next week to see who won. Polls close Tuesday at noon Pacific, so be sure to get your vote in on time!

If you know of a player you think we should include next week, let us know! At the end of the year, we’ll compile all the HEROES of the Week from this season and let you vote on the D2 Baseball Performance of the YEAR!

Brandon Benson Georgia College BaseballLast week, you chose Brandon Benson of BR-12 Georgia College as the D2 Baseball Offensive HERO of the Week! He earned 67.5 percent of the vote after he went 4 for 4 with two doubles and a home run in a win over BR-215 Albany State.

Placido Torres Tusculum Baseball

On the flip side, you chose Placido Torres of BR-18 Tusculum as the D2 Baseball Pitching HERO of the Week with 65 percent of the vote. Torres struck out 15 batters in a victory over BR-63 Wingate.

BR-5 ST. CLOUD STATE: Gregory smacked two home runs and had three RBIs last week against BR-197 Upper Iowa. [divider]

JAY JABS

BR-25 FRANKLIN PIERCE: Jabs is becoming a regular on this list. Last week he went 4 for 5 with two home runs, a double and six RBIs against BR-150 Pace.

MATT MALACANE

BR-52 SETON HILL: Malacane was 4 of 5 at the plate against BR-154 Malone, cracking three home runs in one game and collecting eight RBIs.

ZACH SCUDDER

BR-115 PFEIFFER: Scudder was 2 for 3 in a game last week, with both of his hits being home runs. He had five RBIs. [divider]

GARRETT HAYES

BR-13 WEST GEORGIA: Hayes was a perfect 4 for 4 with a double and six RBIs in a game last week with BR-173 Georgia Southwestern.

BR-26 SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: Viehoff allowed just one hit and struck out 11 batters in a win over BR-241 Post. [divider]

BRANDYN SITTINGER

BR-84 ASHLAND: Sittinger picked up a complete game victory last week against BR-142 Tiffin, striking out 14 batters. [divider]

DALTON MOATS

BR-19 DELTA STATE: In a start against BR-196 Shorter, Moats went seven innings and struck out 10 batters, walking two.

BRYCE ZAK

BR-50 ANGELO STATE: Zak tossed a complete game shutout against BR-232 Eastern New Mexico. He allowed just two hits while striking out 14 batters. [divider]

TANNER HERDT

BR-21 COLORADO MESA: Herdt had a one-hit shutout against BR-76 Colorado State-Pueblo last week. In seven innings of work, he struck out 11 batters.
