It may be summer but college basketball programs never truly hit an ‘offseason.’ There's almost always some kind of action for each of the 24 D2 men’s basketball conferences, and something to discuss, including a 2015-16 review, BennettRank and how each program performed versus the pre-season polls. In some cases, there have been coaching changes plus some key losses, not to mention returning players to watch for once the season gets underway.
We wrap up our nationwide swing through D2 men’s hoops with a look at the Pacific West Conference.

Coaching and Membership Changes
Concordia-Irvine: The NCAA D2 Management Council approved Concordia-Irvine’s progression into Provisional Year Three of their transition from the NAIA. Upon completing Provisional Year Three, Concordia will be eligible for PacWest and NCAA post-season play in 2017-2018.
“We believe that the NCAA Division II model is an excellent fit with our Lutheran heritage, our core values, and our approach to educating the whole person. Advancing in the Division II acceptance process is a testament to the quality of our University's faculty, staff, and overall educational experience.” — Concordia-Irvine President Kurt Krueger
Fresno Pacific: Assistant coach C.J. Haydock is promoted to head coach after the resignation of Tim Kinser. During his one season at Fresno Pacific, Kinser guided the Sunbirds to a 15-14 record.
“We are genuinely excited for the direction that men's basketball is headed. I'm confident that C.J. will not only bring a high level of basketball expertise, but he will also be investing in the right areas on campus and in the community that will make everyone proud.” — Fresno Pacific AD Aaron Henderson
Holy Names: After successfully completing their three-year provisional membership after leaving the NAIA, Holy Names is now a full NCAA D2 member and is eligible for PacWest and NCAA post-season competition.
“We knew Division II of the NCAA and the Pacific West Conference were the right places for HNU Athletics. Their philosophy balances athletic achievement with commitments to educational development and community service, which align well with our commitments to the full development of all student-athletes through their engagement in the total educational experience.” — Joint statement of Holy Names president William Hynes and AD Debbie Snell
Point Loma: Seattle Pacific head coach Ryan Looney has accepted the same position at Point Loma. Looney, who went 164-51 in ten seasons at Seattle Pacific, replaces Bill Carr (80-64, five seasons), who resigned to become the head women’s basketball coach at Santa Clara.
“I am beyond thrilled to have Ryan accept our offer to be the next head men's basketball coach. He has demonstrated amazing success at our level, but I am even more impressed with his leadership of young men who have come through his programs. I know that he and his family are extremely excited to connect and engage with our community.” – Point Loma AD Ethan Hamilton
