It's officially football season.

As the opening kickoff weekend will continue throughout the next few days as it is always extended due to the Labor Day Holiday. With the first day of action complete, it is time to take a quick look back at some of the best performances from opening night, just the beginning of what already looks to be a promising football season.

Offensive Player of the Night: Justin Dvorak, QB, BR-22 Colorado Mines

Performance: 27-36 Passing, 402 Yards, 6 TD

Although lightning delayed the start of what was expected to be one of the best games of the night, Colorado Mines was able to shake off the rust of an early 8-0 deficit and turn it into a 36-point second quarter and eventual 57-21 victory at home over BR-5 Colorado St-Pueblo, perhaps a mild upset.

The Oredigger's best player and leader, Justin Dvorak, led the charge with one of the best performances of his career. The senior, in a little more than three quarters, topped 400 yards to go with six TD passes. After falling behind early, Dvorak led the Orediggers to scores on six straight possessions

Also in the process of victory, Dvorak broke the program's all-time record for career passing touchdowns, now standing at 87.

Honorable Mention: Jamal Jones, RB — Carson-Newman (12 carries, 130 yards, 2 TD); Reggie Bell, RB — Ferris State (14 carries, 102 yards, TD)
