Although lightning delayed the start of what was expected to be one of the best games of the night, Colorado Mines was able to shake off the rust of an early 8-0 deficit and turn it into a 36-point second quarter and eventual 57-21 victory at home over BR-5 Colorado St-Pueblo, perhaps a mild upset.
The Oredigger's best player and leader, Justin Dvorak, led the charge with one of the best performances of his career. The senior, in a little more than three quarters, topped 400 yards to go with six TD passes. After falling behind early, Dvorak led the Orediggers to scores on six straight possessions
Also in the process of victory, Dvorak broke the program's all-time record for career passing touchdowns, now standing at 87.
