MEC Football 2016 Preview and Rankings

HERO Sports by HERO Sports
August 19, 2016

2015 was a historic season in Mountain East Football. The three-year-old league sent two teams to the D2 football playoffs for the first time ever, and Shepherd became the first MEC/WVIAC team to reach the national championship game. You could say things are trending up in MEC Football.

If the preseason polls are any indication, Shepherd is predicted to repeat at MEC champions, followed by Charleston, which also qualified for the NCAA playoffs a year ago. Yet, all but two teams returning at least half of their starters from last season, so we could also see the gap narrowing between Shepherd, Charleston and the rest of the league.

So let's take a team-by-team capsule look at each of the 11 teams in the Mountain East Conference. Use your arrow keys or the arrow buttons above and below to navigate our MEC football previews.
