John Santiago was one of the darlings from last season. He was a second team All-American, and won Co-Big Sky Freshman of the Year and First Team honors. After starting camp at wide receiver, Santiago ended up starting at running back due to injuries and rushed for 1,459 yards and 16 touchdowns. He had 2,159 all-purpose yards, averaged 6.5 yards per carry, and led the Big Sky in rushing yards, touchdowns, and all-purpose yards.
"What I'm trying to build on this year is the consistency part of running the ball," Santiago said. "So the ability to repeat big plays and to keep doing them throughout the season." He's already rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
