How They Got Here
Baylor had a relatively easy time in its first-round matchup against New Mexico State, cruising to a 91-73 victory. In the round of 32, as you'd expect, the competition got tougher, and No. 11 USC gave the Bears everything they had. Baylor endured the Trojans is a hard-fought 82-78 victory.
South Carolina, meanwhile put Marquette away by 20 points in the opening round in a 93-73 victory, and then pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament to-date in a 88-81 victory over Duke in the Round of 32.
Who to Watch
Baylor's Johnathan Motley is one of the best scorers left in the tournament. He averages 17.3 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game. He's joined by Manu Lecomte, who scores 12.3 points and 3.9 assists per game.
South Carolina might have an even better scorer on their squad — Sindarius Thornwell. He scores 21.4 points per game and pulls down 7.3 boards. PJ Dozier, Duane Notice and Chris Silva all average at least 10 points per game.
Key to the Game
Does South Carolina have the guns in the post to slow down Motley? If the Gamecocks shoot well they can definitely score enough points to keep up with Baylor, but slowing down Motley will be the biggest factor in this game.
Baylor and South Carolina have never met in the NCAA Tournament.
