The New York Liberty unveiled a brand new look on Tuesday redesigning their logo for the first time since the start of the WNBA in 1997.
The new logo and look was unveiled on Twitter and social media channels by the franchise.

It has been quite the offseason for the Liberty who announced new ownership in Joe Tsai and that the team would move venues to a new home in Brooklyn's Barclays Center in 2020. It certainly doesn't come as a surprise that the franchise would rebrand given all the change taking place.
"While this new logo pays homage to our franchise history and the history of New York City, it also nods to our future and modernizes the team's overall look," said New York Liberty Chief Operating Officer Keia Clarke per release. "This new chapter of Liberty basketball in Brooklyn will begin with the roll out of a new visual that energizes and excited our Liberty Loyals."
The new look is not far off from the original logo first implemented by the Liberty. It enhances and modernizes the look just enough with the use of sleek colors, fonts and aesthetics. The New York shield remains a focal point to represent the great deal of pride in the city. Torch to represent the Statue of Liberty and her seafoam color and is also used as a symbol of enlightenment.
The news of a new look builds on the momentum the Liberty have build headed into draft week, which is set to take place this Friday, April 17, as the Liberty hold the No. 1 overall pick.
All Liberty merchandise with the new look will be available for presale starting on April 18.
