This is something a little different, but something that is very cool.
This video is a still shot of the North Carolina players basketball lounge. While that is a little interesting, the cool part is that by playing your mouse cursor on the video you can drag and sweep the point of view through 360 degrees. That means that for the length of the video you are able to check out the Tar Heels new lounge and see just how the players get to spend their downtime in the program.
The first things to note here are the awesome player collages on the walls above the seating area. Obviously, UNC has a recent basketball history matched only by the likes of Duke and Kansas, so it makes sense that there would be an area dedicated to those figures who essentially helped pay for the ridiculously opulent facilities that the players of today get to enjoy. Also, you have to think that it would be a reasonably solid motivation to have an image of Michael Jordan looking down while you play on your iPhone. It is interesting though how in this view at least it is only players from the '80s onward on these boards.
Every lounge needs some form of entertainment and there are a couple of obvious spots to relax here. The first is the ping pong table in the middle of the huge room and one would expect that there will be some mighty battles played out here given the competitive nature of those athletes playing at the D1 level. Much more relaxing would be the coffee and snack bar at one end of the room that is looking at a small TV, or the giant TV at the other end of the room that is likely to be tuned to college basketball for most of the season.
All in all, this is a sweet facility and it would be one hell of a draw for recruits. As the college basketball arms race continues to catch football in terms of facilities and amenities it is obvious that North Carolina is one of the schools leading the way,
