Rice baseball is heading to Cuba.
Even two years after the United States and Cuba re-established diplomatic relations and began allowing travel between the two countries, few Americans have had the opportunity to visit the island nation, let alone play baseball there.

Rice announced in August they would take a 12-day trip to Cuba, beginning Nov. 23, to play five games against Cuban Federation Baseball teams, attend classes at a local university and explore their culture.
"Student-athlete time demands are such that study-abroad opportunities are rare," said Rice athletics director Joe Karlgaard. "I’m grateful to the Rice faculty and administration who worked out the logistics to make this trip a reality."
And that trip will include some awesome new uniforms. Instead of deviating from their classic navy blue digs with white script lettering, the Owls will keep it simple but with one change: Los Buhos (The Owls) replaces Rice on the front.
