"Sydney is a huge part of the culture and identity we are building in Los Angeles," said Managing Partner Eric Holoman. "She had a great season for us in 2019 and I am excited for her continued growth with our group.
Wiese was drafted by the Sparks as the No. 11 overall pick in the 2017 WNBA draft after a stellar career at Oregon State. In her first two seasons with the Sparks she saw limited action playing under eight minutes per game making 2019 truly a breakout season. Wiese has played professionally in Australia and Israel since 2017.
"Sydney Wiese is an invaluable part of our organization," said Head Coach Derek Fisher per release. "She can play multiple backcourt positions, provides outside shooting and is a model teammate and professional."
"I have so much gratitude for our owners, Michael Fischer and Coach Fisher," said Wiese following the extension. "They have stuck with me throughout my transition from college to becoming familiar with the league. Their commitment to me as a person, player and professional is unmatched. I take pride in wearing purple and gold and I am excited to continue to represent the Sparks organization."
