The Top 5 offenses in D1 Men’s Basketball are a weird breed. Only one — BR-2 Oklahoma — is ranked, while the rest — namely BR-320 Citadel, BR-157 Green Bay, BR-104 Oakland and BR-128 North Florida — don’t even crack the Top 100!
So, I figured it’d probably be better to amend my article and focus on the best teams with the best offense rather than discuss a bunch of mediocre teams that happen to have a great offense, if that makes sense. Let's get to it.
BR-2 Oklahoma – 85.4 ppg (No. 5 in the NCAA)
The Sooners are the highest ranked squad on this list, averaging 85.4 points per contest, yet they’re just the fifth highest scoring team in the league. Of course it doesn’t really matter when you beat opponents like Texas Tech 91-67; or hold a squad like LSU to 75 points.
Of note, Oklahoma features the league’s No. 2 scorer, Buddy Hield, who averages just over 26 points per game. That certainly helps the numbers.
