With teams deep into their conference schedules this season, the best of the best are starting to make themselves known. There are, however, a few teams flying under the radar, picking up steam heading into their final half dozen contests of the regular season. Here are five squads that are doing just that who you need to keep an eye on down the stretch:
BR-9 Texas has been on an upward trajectory this season with the only blip on its otherwise perfect season coming against Baylor two weeks ago. Most recently, the Longhorns grabbed their 1,000th program victory, knocking off Kansas 70-46 on Wednesday night to improve their season record to 19-1. With Imani Boyette and Brooke McCarty leading the way, Texas will look to surge into the Top 5 with nine game remaining on its ledger. Boyette leads the team with 13.7 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per contest to go along with her team-high 69 total blocks. McCarty provides a solid punch with 11.2 points per game, 51 assists and 22 steals. The Longhorns have outscored their opponents 74-54 on average this season — a healthy margin of victory for a team looking to make a deep run in the postseason.
