With the hiring of Butler head basketball coach Chris Holtmann by Ohio State, the world of Twitter got scrambling. Fans, media, former colleagues and former players all chimed in — and not surprisingly, it was colorful.

Holtmann, 45, was the head coach at Gardner-Webb in South Carolina before moving to Butler as an assistant in 2013. By 2014 he was the head coach and went 70-31 in three seasons with three NCAA tournament appearances before being hired by the Buckeyes.

Here are some of the reactions on Twitter so far:
Holtmann didn't waste much time in getting a statement out to fans of both schools:

As usual, some of the fan reaction was a tad bit negative:
Enjoy that money while your team is getting spanked up and down the court for the foreseeable future.

I would do the job for 1/10th of that price and get the same or better results

The media also chimed in, but was a bit more positive.
Chris Holtmann went from HC of Gardner Webb to Butler assistant to Butler interim HC to Butler HC to Ohio State HC in four years. Unreal.

Many Ohio State fans seemed to approve of the news.

Then there were the appreciative Butler fans.
