Utica College's Robert Tutein gave the Pioneers a Sports Center moment Friday night, hurling an off-balance prayer for a buzzer beater at Elmira.
Utica's Mike Cannizzo inbounded the ball with a football pass with a second to go and Tutein turned around with a defender on him and launched an ugly, off-balance shot that went in just before the buzzer to beat Elmira 75-74 in an Empire 8 game.
The play was featured on ESPN's Top Ten Friday night.
Tutein had the final six points of the game, which had six ties and five lead changes.
It's a particularly nice moment for the BR-361 Pioneers, who haven't had a lot to cheer about this year. They improved to 6-13 overall and 3-8 in Empire 8 play. BR-364 Elmira dropped to 4-16 and 2-9 in conference play.
