D2 Baseball: Vote for the Best Pitcher in the PSAC

The PSAC is one of the more noteworthy conferences in D2 as it currently holds the reigning national champion West Chester, along with a couple handfuls of other top-notch programs.

But focusing on the indiviudal talent, the PSAC is also home to some of the best pitchers in D2 with many former studs ending up as draft selections in recent years.

But which of the current batch has been the best of the 2018 season so far? That is where we need your help. We have selected five nominees and it is your job to vote in our poll below.

Voting will close on March 30 at 11:00 a.m. PST, so make sure to spread the word and get the votes in as much, and as quickly as possible.

Zack Sims, Shippensburg

Key Stats: 4-1 / 2.12 ERA / 29 K

Sims has been one of the best starter so far with a dazzling ERA and four wins in his first five starts. In 29.2 innings, the Raider has posted 29 strikeouts as well.

Zach Rice, West Chester

Key Stats: 4-1 / 2.51 ERA / 32.1 IP

Rice has appeared in six games and started five, pitching his way to four wins for the reigning national champions. But this freshman was no part of that title team, and has infused new blood to a storied program.

Russell Lamovec, Mercyhurst

Key Stats: 2-1 / 1.27 ERA / 45 K

The conference leader in strikeouts, Lamovec continues the tradition of power pitchers for the Lakers. The junior is also second in the league with 16 hitters going down looking at the third strike.

Breton Larose, Lock Haven

Key Stats: 5 APP / 4 SV / 3.60 ERA

The conference leader in saves, Larose has been one of the best back-end relievers in the conference thus far. He has been roughed up in his last couple of outings, but his ability to close out the end of contests is second-to-none right now in the PSAC.

Ashton Raines, Bloomsburg

Key Stats: 4-0 / 2.88 ERA / 22 K

In 25 innings thus far, Raines has been the go-to arm for the Huskies as he has posted a perfect record and has given up one run or less in two of his four starts. His strikeout rate has been great as well, with nearly two dozen in his 25 innings pitched.
