Time for another look at some of the best single-game performances in D1 Men’s Ice Hockey — the nominees for HERO of the Week!

Last week, Mercyhurst’s Derek Barach earned your vote after leading his team with six points in three gams. The junior netted three goals and three assists in the week’s effort.
Cornell’s Matthew Galajda grabbed the most votes after backstopping the Big Red to consecutive shutout wins over Colgate, totaling 47 stops in the series.

Jack Riley, Mercyhurst
The senior forward helped lead the Lakers to a 1-0-1 record at Army West Point, tallying a goal and an assist in Friday’s 2-2 draw before netting a hat trick and earning another helper in Saturday’s 6-1 triumph.

Ryan Wagner, Wisconsin
Against Penn State, Wagner accumulated four points. He earned a pair of helpers in Friday’s 4-2 win before netting a goal and an assist in Saturday’s 4-4 overtime draw, with the Badgers earning an extra point in the shootout.

Ross Colton, Vermont
Colton earned the game-winning tally in both of his team’s victories over Merrimack. In both Friday’s 2-1 win and Saturday’s 2-1 overtime triumph, the sophomore forward also had assists.

Nick Halloran, Colorado College
Against Miami, Halloran tallied five points, including three assists in his team’s 6-3 victory on Friday. He also netted a pair of goals in Saturday’s 4-4 overtime draw.

Tyler Vesel, Omaha
Vesel led his team to a sweep of Western Michigan, tallying five points in the effort and hitting the century mark in his career point total. The senior forward had a pair of helpers in Friday’s 6-2 victory before lighting the lamp twice and adding another assist in Saturday’s 7-3 win.

Tyler Spezia, Bowling Green
Bowling Green earned a road sweep at Lake Superior State, led by Spezia, who totaled four points in the series. The senior forward netted a goal and an assist in Friday’s 5-3 win before lighting the lamp twice in Saturday’s 3-2 victory.

Brandon Wildung, Mercyhurst
In two games against Army West Point, Wildung allowed just three goals, totaling 67 stops to remain unbeaten in his last seven starts. The senior netminder stopped 36 shots in Friday’s 2-2 draw before putting up a 31-save performance in Saturday’s 6-1 victory.

Sean Romeo, Ohio State
The third-year netminder totaled 60 saves as he backstopped the Buckeyes to a sweep of Michigan. In Friday’s 4-0 triumph, Romeo put up a 32-save performance to earn his second career shutout before making 28 saves in Saturday’s 5-3 victory.

Jeremy Swayman, Maine
Swayman posted back-to-back 28-save performances to backstop his team to a pair of 3-2 wins over Massachusetts.

Hunter Shepard, Minnesota Duluth
Shepard was stout in net for the Bulldogs, allowing just four cumulative goals in three games against top-10 opponents. In Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Minnesota State, Shepard turned aside 23 shots. Then, in Friday’s 5-1 victory over St. Cloud State, the sophomore netminder made 24 stops, before adding 26 saves in a 2-1 loss on Saturday.

Darren Smith, Ferris State
Smith backstopped his team to a pair of wins over Michigan Tech, totaling 61 saves in the sweep. In Friday’s 4-3 win, the junior netminder turned aside 35 shots, and then finished with 26 stops in Saturday’s 3-1 victory.
