VOTE: D1 Women’s Tennis HERO of The Week (2)

The time has come to honor the best tennis players in the country at the D1 level with the honorees for HERO of The Week. Each week we will have a list of nominees for you to vote for that stood out in competition over the week prior.

Voting will take place in the poll at the bottom of this article following the list of nominees. Voting only takes place in the poll, and the voting will close on Friday at 10:00 a.m. PST for each poll.

Without further ado, here are the nominees for HERO of The Week!

Camilla Abatte, Baylor

Abatte was the lone singles winner for the Bears in a conference matchup with Kansas. The BU standout won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

Anna Danilina, Florida

Taking on the 111th-ranked player in singles for D1, Danilina defended her own ranking of 15th well in a straight set victory. Over the two sets, she only dropped three games.

Giulia Pairone, Arkansas

In a conference dual match with Vanderbilt, Pairone drew the top slot in singles as the 66th-ranked player in the country and went head-to-head with 5th-ranked Fernanda Contreras of Vandy. In the big upset win for the Razroback, she took her opponent down in straight sets.

Kristin Rehse, Georgia State

Rehse led off the day for GSU against Liza Buss of SMU in victorious fashion. Her win in straight sets started off a two-win day in singles for the Panthers.

Alyssa Tobita, Oregon

To lead off the Ducks' day vs Wasu, Tobita upset the 49th-ranked singles player in D1 to lead a three point team day versus their conference rivals.

Eden Richardson, LSU

Richardson was the only winner for the day as the Tigers fell to South Carolina in SEC action. She was able to take down her opponent from USC in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

Katarina Jokic, Georgia

Ranked second in the singles rankings for D1, Jokic nearly suffered an upset loss to arch rival Tennessee to lead off a dual match. After dropping the first set, the Bulldog standout roared back with straight set wins to claim the victory on way to a 7-0 win for UGA.
