Without further ado, here are the nominees for HERO of The Week!
Renato Lima, Indianapolis
Lima led off the victories for Indy in the national quarterfinals vs Washburn. Winning 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets, this Greyhound standout helped his team advance to the semis.
Daniel Ventura, Barry
Ventura had a rough go in the semifinals vs UIndy, but was able to come out on top and help his team advance to the national title match. Going fourth in the singles round, this Bucs star won 7-6, 7-6 in both sets with each requiring extra frames.
Alvaro Regalado, Azusa Pacific
Regalado and the Cougars had a tough draw in the national title game with Columbus State, and wound up losing out on the championship. In his singles match, the Cougar star lost the first set before coming back to win the final two for a victory, the only on the day for APU.
Oliver Frank, Azusa Pacific
Frank – ranked third in the country – was a standout in APU's overall dominance of Drury in the national semis. Winning in straight sets, he dropped just three games overall.
Alejandro Valarezo, Washburn
The Ichabods were able to make a big run into the national quarterfinals after upending one of the top teams in the nation (Lander) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Arizona. Valarezo usually leads off singles play, but his result was the last to be recorded and he came up with the clinching W.
