VOTE: D3 Men’s Tennis HERO of The Week (5)

The time has come to honor the best tennis players in the country at the D3 level with the honorees for HERO of The Week. Each week we will have a list of nominees for you to vote for that stood out in competition over the week prior.

Voting will take place in the poll at the bottom of this article following the list of nominees. Voting only takes place in the poll, and the voting will close on Friday at 10:00 a.m. PST for each poll.

Without further ado, here are the nominees for HERO of The Week!

Douwe Sternfeld, Averett​

Sternfeld was the first singles winner for Averett against Southern Virginia, kick-starting a three-for-four run for his team. In his match, Sternfeld won in a clean sweep 6-2, 6-0.

Jeremy Auh, Vassar

Auh was the first winner for Vassar against the Bombers of Ithaca, claiming another singles victory for his season total. After dropping his first set, the Vassar star was able to respond with two set victories in a row.

Zoe Raymond, Oglethorpe

Raymond had to grind through a three set match against his foe from Rhodes, but wound up the winner in the end. After splitting the first two sets, Raymond was able to outlast his opponent in an 11-9 final set.

Titas Bera, Wooster

Bera was the lead off player for Wooster against Wittenberg and started the action with a tremendous three set bout. After dropping the first, Bera was able to respond with two set victories and claim the overall W.

Simon Vernier, Swarthmore​

Vernier was the only singles winner for Swarthmore in a dual match with CWR. Going third in the singles rotation, Vernier was able to beat his opponent in three sets, book-ending set victories.

Jacob Niehaus, Millsaps​

Millsaps could only muster one winner in singles play, and Niehaus was that winner. The last singles match of the day versus South, the standout claimed a straight set victory.
