VOTE: D3 Women’s Ice Hockey HERO of the Week (8) – January- 2018

Time for another look at some of the best single-game performances in D3 Women’s Ice Hockey — the nominees for HERO of the Week!

The only way to vote is the poll at the bottom of the page. Once you’ve made your voice heard, be sure to share with friends so they can vote as well! Vote up to once per hour until polls close Friday at 10 AM Pacific.

Last time, Endicott’s Maggie Layo ran away with the vote after she scored a pair of goals in a 5-1 victory over Wesleyan.

In net, Plattsburgh’s Kassi Abbott was your HERO. She earned her fifth shutout of the season, totaling 22 stops in a 3-0 win over Trinity. She also scored her first career assist.

Tess Adams, SUNY Canton

In the span of two games at the WSYB/Catamount Radio Invitational, Adams tallied six points, scoring a goal in a 4-2 loss to Manhattanville College before grabbing a hat trick and a pair of assists in an 8-2 win over Salem State.

Bre Simon, Hamline

Simon led Hamline’s offense with five points in a pair of victories. The sophomore forward tallied a hat trick and a helper in a 9-2 win over Marian before lighting the lamp once more in a 5-2 triumph over Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Isaacson Trine

Eryn Isaacson, Trine

Against Chatham, Isaacson tallied two crucial points to help lift her team to a win and a tie. In Friday’s 2-1 victory, the freshman forward registered her first game-winning goal before adding an assist on the game-tying score in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

Amanda Conway, Norwich

Conway had a hand in five of her team’s seven goals against Trinity, scoring one goal and earning four helpers. She also had a goal in her team’s 3-2 loss to Plattsburgh State.

Annie Rush, Williams

To sweep Bowdoin, Rush tallied five points in two games, earning a goal and three assists in Friday’s 5-2 win before netting the last second game-winner in a 4-3 win on Saturday.

Meghan Kraus, Plattsburgh State

In a 3-2 win at top-ranked Norwich, Kraus lit the lamp twice, with her second goal, scored midway through the third period, serving as the eventual game-winner.

Nicole Mensi, Manhattanville

Mensi tallied her second career hat trick in a 4-2 win over Canton, which earned the Valiants a spot in the WSYB/Catamount Radio Invitational finals.

Hoff River Falls

Callie Hoff, Wisconsin River Falls

The freshman forward netted a pair of goals in both outings against Concordia College, leading her team to a 10-4 win before following it with a 10-3 victory. Hoff also added an assist for a five-point weekend.

Madison Rigsby, Becker

The junior netminder put on a heroic effort in goal for her team, making 42 saves in an eventual 1-0 loss to the University of New England. Her lone goal allowed came in a third period power play attempt.

Scarborough Trine

Molly Scarborough, Trine

In two games against Chatham, Scarborough totaled 49 saves, backstopping her team to a win and a tie. In Friday’s 2-1 victory, the sophomore netminder registered 25 stops before adding 24 more saves in Saturday’s 1-1 tie.

Alexis Kalm, Castleton

Kalm backstopped the Spartans to a title win at the WSYB Catamount Radio Invitational, totaling 46 stops in a pair of victories. In a 2-1 win over Salem State, the sophomore netminder made 24 saves before totaling 22 stops in a 1-0 win against Manhattanville. Kalm earned MVP honors for her performance.

Kassi Abbott, Plattsburgh State

The junior netminder backstopped her team to a 3-2 win at top-ranked Norwich, making 19 saves in the effort.

Caitie Darosa, Stevenson

In a 4-1 victory over Neumann, Darosa was near-perfect in goal, making 23 saves and going 8-for-8 in the final period.
