The time has come to honor the best tennis players in the country at the D3 level with the honorees for HERO of The Week. Each week we will have a list of nominees for you to vote for that stood out in competition over the week prior.
Voting will take place in the poll at the bottom of this article following the list of nominees. Voting only takes place in the poll, and the voting will close on Friday at 10:00 a.m. PST for each poll.
Without further ado, here are the nominees for HERO of The Week!
Korina Hernandez, Wellesley
Hernandez was one of four players for Wellesley to win in straight sets and not drop a single game. Winning her singles match was a laughable affair, and she did more of the same in her doubles match as her and her partner won 8-2.
Gabi Kitchell, Whitewater
Kitchell was the lone singles winner for UWW in a dual match with Milwaukee, a D1 opponent. But her win was a huge won, getting the match started with a straight set 6-4, 6-4 dub.
Caroline Kutach, Trinity (TX)
Ranked 45th in D3 for singles competition, Kutach had a big day against Whitman in a straight set victory. Leading off for her team, she claimed both sets in a 6-1, 6-1 affair.
Lena Rich, Oberlin
Rich was one of a handful of big winners for the Yeomen in a match with Ashland of D2. But this standout was the only one to do so without dropping a single game, winning in a sweep 6-0, 6-0.
Katie Kitchen, Marietta
Kitchen was one of the Pioneers' big winners on the day in a dual match with Stevenson. In her straight set victory, she dropped just one game to win by a final tally of 6-0, 6-1.
Catherine Allen, CMS
Allen defended her third-place ranking in D3 with a big straight set win over 10th ranked Camille Smukler of Amherst. The victory marks her eighth in her last ten singles matches.
