Zay Jones has just three catches for 39 yards through three NFL games, and has scored just 3.9 points in non-PPR leagues so far. Should you cut bait and drop the rookie Buffalo Bills wide receiver?

Believe it or not, Jones is actually the third-highest scoring wide receiver on the Bills' roster. That's right, with 3.9 points, he ranks third among Buffalo wide receivers in fantasy points, behind Jordan Matthews (15.2 points) and Andre Holmes (14.5). Kaelin Clay (2.8 points) is the only other wide receiver with fantasy points.
The fantasy scorers for the Bills are:
Player | Pos. | Points |
---|---|---|
Tyrod Taylor | QB | 47.1 |
LeSean McCoy | RB | 27.1 |
Charles Clay | TE | 23.5 |
Mike Tolbert | RB | 16.2 |
Jordan Matthews | WR | 15.2 |
Andre Holmes | WR | 14.5 |
Nick O'Leary | TE | 5.3 |
Zay Jones | WR | 3.9 |
Kaelin Clay | WR | 2.8 |
Patrick DiMarco | RB | 0.5 |
By fantasy scoring, Jones is fifth in the receiver pecking order, but in reality he's at least fourth, behind Clay, Matthews and Holmes.
As a rookie, you expect some some growing pains, and he's in an offense that flat out just doesn't throw it a ton. The Bills have just 50 points on the season, and all four of Taylor's passing TDs have gone to Clay and Holmes.
Jones should still get a shot to make an impact on this roster and in turn, an impact on your fantasy team. He's definitely due for a breakout performance.
Jones has been targeted 12 times this years, third on the team behind McCoy and Clay. He leads Matthews by one target, and is one of four players with more than 10 targets.
He's likely not a great play this weekend against the Falcons, but he's worth hanging on to if you've got room on your roster.
