Delaware Valley’s Rasheed Bailey Highlights Prolific Rams Offense

Delaware Valley’s Rasheed Bailey Highlights Prolific Rams Offense

Acrobatic catches. Catches down the sideline. Catches over the middle. Catches on the run. Catches over the defenders and between them. All kinds of catches.

Rasheed Bailey catches passes. He catches passes well and he catches passes often.

This Delaware Valley senior wide receiver is the Division 3 leader in receiving yards (1,340), receiving yards per Delaware Valley Logogame (167.5) and touchdowns (15).

Bailey highlights a prolific Rams offense and has helped Delaware Valley steadily rise from BR-43 in the preseason to a high of BR-12 last week. An 8-0 mark has the Rams boasting a Heat Score of 94.

Delaware Valley squeezed out a 24-21 victory over BR-70 King’s on Saturday, a win in which Bailey played a huge part. He caught two touchdowns in the first quarter to give the Rams an early 14-0 lead they never relinquished.

Early in the first, with the Rams facing a third-and-9 from the King’s 14-yard line, quarterback Aaron Wilmer whipped a pass to Bailey who caught it between two defenders in the end zone for his first score. Later in the quarter, Bailey got behind the King’s defense and Wilmer connected with him for a 59-yard touchdown.

He finished with five receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns. It was his second-worst game of the season.

A week ago, Bailey set the school’s single-season receiving yardage and touchdown marks. It only took him seven games. He’s also set or tied his share of Delaware Valley single-game marks. His 252 receiving yards against Albright were a program best, while his 11 receptions against Montclair State and four touchdowns against Lebanon Valley tied school marks.

player_Rasheed_BaileyBailey, 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 205 pounds, has great size, speed and of course, hands.

Bailey has even found himself gracing the pages of Sports Illustrated thanks to his impressive numbers.

“We’re having a ball on offense,” Bailey told local reporters this season. “We’re just clicking on all cylinders. The power that we have with this offense is incredible. I’ve never experienced an offense like this.”

And the Delaware Valley offense certainly hasn’t had a receiver like Bailey. His Rams have two games remaining, one against BR-178 FDU-Florham at home, and then the biggest game of their season: at BR-10 Widener in the de facto Middle Atlantic Conference (Commonwealth) championship game.

Both teams will likely be undefeated. Based on what he’s shown this season, the Pride better double Baily, or they won’t be for long.
