Cincinnati is the top-ranked Group of Five team in the Week 1 Rankings.
The Bearcats won at least nine games seven times between 2007-14 but stumbled to 15 total wins from 2015-17, their lowest three-year win total since 1998-2000. Last year, under second-year head coach Luke Fickell, they exploded for 11 wins, tying the second-highest single-season total in program history. This year, Cincinnati could it again and are the best Group of Five team entering the 2019 season.
Cincinnati is ranked No. 19 in the Week 1 College Football Rankings, three spots ahead of American foe UCF. Those are two of four teams ranked between No. 19 and No. 27.
