Parsons, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive end from Harrisburg, Pa., picked the Nittany Lions over Georgia, Oklahoma and others. He is the fourth-ranked player in the entire 2018 class (247Sports), top-ranked weak-side defensive end and top-ranked recruit from the state. Parsons visited Penn State on Dec. 8 for one of five official visits (Georgia, Nebraska, Ohio State and Oklahoma), and following a bizarre turn in his recruitment by Ohio State, he opted to stay in Pennsylvania.
He initially committed to Penn State in February 2016 but pulled it back in April, saying he committed too soon, though he did leave the door open for a return to the Nittany Lions.

Parsons was the top-ranked uncommitted recruit in the class entering the early signing period and became the 20th member of a Penn State class that ranks fourth in the country and second in the Big Ten. James Franklin and his staff have now secured commitments from three five-star players and eight four-star players.
