Teams play each twice during the same season very often in college football. Last year, TCU and Oklahoma played twice, as did Fresno State and Boise State and others. However, in all of those instances, one game was in the regular season and one game was in the postseason (either conference championship or bowl game).
This year, two teams are scheduled to play twice during the regular season. Which teams?

Answer
Liberty and New Mexico State
New Mexico State was kicked out of the Sun Belt after last season and will play as an Independent for the foreseeable future. Liberty will also play as an Independent in their first season as transitional FBS member. Both schools were in need of an extra FBS opponent for the 2018 season and were the only suitors for each other.
I can't figure out the last time two FBS teams played each other twice in the regular season. If you know, hit me up on Twitter.
