Forty percent of Sun Belt head coaches are under 40 years old, including the conference's two newest coaches: Jake Spavital (Texas State) and Eliah Drinkwitz (App State). Sun Belt coaches are, on average, nearly two years younger than any other conference*.
Despite having the oldest active FBS head coach, Frank Solich, the MAC has the second-youngest average age, followed closely by the Big 12, thanks to Matt Campbell, 39, and Lincoln Riley, 35. The Big 12 is one of eight conferences with at least two under-40 coaches. Only the ACC and SEC don't have under-40 coaches, though several, including Willie Taggart and Kirby Smart (both 42) are close.
The Sun Belt also has the lowest median age at 43 years old, three full years younger than the Big 12.
