VOTE: Who’s the Best Quarterback in NCAC Football?

VOTE: Who’s the Best Quarterback in NCAC Football?

The 2017 D3 football season is only a couple weeks old, so there isn't a whole ton to go off yet. But early results out of the North Coast Athletic Conference are extremely promising.

The NCAC's ten teams in are 10-4 overall to start the season, including an 8-2 record in non-conference play. No conference has thrown the ball more often than the NCAC so far this season. These teams average 34.9 pass attempts per game, and as a result, seven NCAC quarterbacks are ranked in the D3 football top 100 in terms of passing yards per game. Only the MIAC can say the same.

But which NCAC quarterback is the best? You tell us. Take a look at the quarterbacks listed below and make your choice. THE ONLY WAY TO VOTE IS THE POLL AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. Vote up to once per hour until the poll closes Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Randy Tucker – Hiram

Tucker and the Terriers have only played one game this season, but what a game it was. He completed 28-of-42 passes for 369 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions, and added 52 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in a 63-41 win over Earlham (IN) to start the year.

It was the most points Hiram has scored in a single game since 1915, and Tucker's six passing TDs set a new program record.[divider]

Gary Muntean – Wooster

Not only is Gary Muntean one of the top passers in the NCAC, he's one of the top ball-carriers as well. Muntean has averaged 317.5 yards per game through the air and 58 yards on the ground through two games.

Muntean ranks second in the conference in both passing touchdowns (7) and rushing touchdowns (3), and no quarterback in the league has a better completion percentage (71.4). It's early still, but last season's No. 1 passer has looked excellent in leading the Fighting Scots to a 2-0 record to start the year.[divider]

Matt Labus – DePauw

Matt Labus started the 2017 season off right — with a 54-yard touchdown just four plays into the new year. He helped DePauw amass a 21-0 lead early in the season-opener vs. Mount St. Joseph, and his Tigers didn't look back in the 41-30 win.

He finished the first start of his career 24-for-37 for 287 yards, three TDs, and two INTs, and led DePauw to their fourth-straight season-opening victory.[divider]

Logan Lee – Allegheny

The Gators got out to a 1-1 start this season, thanks in large part to the play of quarterback Logan Lee. He's been practically flawless in two starts, completing 36-of-59 passes for eight touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Gators could very well be 2-0 right now if not for a couple timely mistakes, missed-connections, and defensive breakdowns in their NCAC opener against Wooster. Lee was impressive in that one — completing 17 of 25 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns. [divider]

Zach Taylor – Oberlin

Even though Zach Taylor is the youngest quarterback on our list, he's definitely not the least experienced. Taylor started nine games for the Yeomen last season, and looks even better this year than he did in 2016.

Oberlin is 2-0 to start the year with wins over Kalamazoo College and Kenyon College. Taylor and the three-headed-monster backfield of Connor Hibbard, Kahlil Rivers, and Melvin Briggs have racked up 745 yards in those two games, and should provide a serious challenge to Wittenberg this Saturday.[divider]
