The Chicago Sky signed Alexis Prince for the remainder of the season the team announced on Sunday. In addition, Alisia Jenkins was released from the team following the completion of her seven-day contract.
Prince was originally drafted by the Phoenix Mercury as the No. 29 overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft out of Baylor. The six-foot-two forward spent time with the Mercury and Dream to go along with international experience in France, Turkey and Spain. Prince was signed by the Sky to a training camp contract prior to the start of this season but was waived before the season. She has averaged 2.1 points, 1.1 rebound in 6.8 minutes per game during her WNBA career.
Prince has begun the WNBA’s quarantine protocol at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. She is expected to be eligible to join the Sky for practices and games this week.
The Chicago Sky lost key players Azure Stevens (knee injury) and Diamond DeShields (personal reasons) who left the WNBA bubble for the remainder of the season. Jenkins appeared in three games for the Sky during her seven day contract averaging 1.6 minutes per game.
The Chicago Sky fell to the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday for their third loss in a row. Chicago sits at 11-9 on the season and a current No. 6 place in league standings. They will face the Atlanta Dream and Dallas Wings before the beginning of playoffs.
