Not a ton of changes from last week due to only two of my ranked teams losing. They were big ones, though. My No. 3 SIU and No. 4 Villanova lost.
That brought William & Mary into my ballot at No. 19 after its 31-18 win over Nova that wasn’t nearly as close as the final score may indicate. The Tribe is 6-2 overall and 6-1 against the FCS (loss to Maine).
Northern Iowa rose from No. 15 to No. 6 after beating SIU 23-16.
No. 6 may seem high for the 5-3 Panthers. But two of the losses were 16-10 at Iowa State and 34-20 at NDSU. Since a head-scratching 34-21 home loss to South Dakota, UNI has beaten then-No. 6 SDSU (26-17) and then-No. 3 SIU. It also has a September 34-16 win at Sac State, who may go unbeaten in the Big Sky. To me, the Panthers are playing like one of the best FCS teams right now.
