The big question going into last season: How can Ferris State replace Jason Vander Laan? The NCAA record-holder for quarterback rushing yards graduated the year prior (he's with the Jets in the NFL now), and left a huge hole in his wake. But those expecting a down season were oh so wrong.
The Bulldogs made their deepest playoff run in 21 years — all the way to the semifinals before finally losing out to eventual champs Northwest Missouri State. Senior quarterback Trevor Bermingham was electric in the playoffs. He scored 13 rushing touchdowns in four games, plus another four through the air, and led the Bulldogs to the brink of glory.
Bermingham is gone now, like Vander Laan before him, but never fear Bulldogs fans. Looks like Ferris State is pretty good at this whole quarterback transition process.
