The ultimate difference here was winning percentage. The Sun Devils just barely edged the Wildcats (39-26 to 36-29) thanks in part to their 3-2 record against their rivals in the past five seasons.
That streak includes the 58-21 spanking they put on Arizona in 2013 — good for the widest margin of victory in the Duel in the Desert since the Sun Devils beat the Wildcats 56-14 in 1997.
