It will be the Crimson Tide's seventh consecutive season opener at a neutral site. They began playing neutral-site openers in 2012 with a demolition of Michigan in Arlington, Texas, and most recently beat Florida State in Atlanta last September.
Though Lamar Jackson will be gone, the Cardinals will still be a fringe top-25 team returning a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, including receiver Dez Fitzpatrick. It will be the teams' fourth-ever meeting and first since 1991, a Louisville win in the Fiesta Bowl, their first win in the three-game series.

Alabama has their home opener a week later on Sept. 8 vs. Arkansas State and opens SEC play the following Saturday vs. Ole Miss on the road. Other notable games include a visit from Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M on Sept. 22, trip to LSU on Nov. 3 and the Iron Bowl in the regular-season finale. They also play former defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt and his new team, Tennessee in Knoxville, on Oct. 20.
