Who's the only former No. 1 recruit to go undrafted?
247Sports Composite rankings go back to 2000 when D.J. Williams was the top-ranked player in the class. Four years later, after playing both fullback and linebacker at Miami (FL), he was selected as a linebacker with the 17th pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. Thirteen picks later, the Detroit Lions selected Virginia Tech running back and 2001 top recruit Kevin Jones with the 30th pick.
Williams and Jones are among the 15 former No. 1 recruits to be selected from the draft-eligible classes between 2000-15. There is only one former No. 1 recruit who went undrafted.

Answer
Trenton Thompson
Trenton Thompson was the top-ranked player in the 2015 class and one of the highest-rated defensive tackles in the recruiting era. The Georgia native picked Georgia over Auburn and had 15.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks over three seasons in Athens.
After initially saying, “Looking ahead! #UGA19 #seniorsoon," on Instagram in December, Thompson declared for the draft and was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. He was not drafted and signed with the Cleveland Browns.
