Hawai'i football assistant coach Sean Duggan learned the hard way that his playing days are behind him.
Duggan is in his second season as linebackers coach for the Rainbow Warriors. He's a former Boston College linebacker who played his 2014 senior season at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. He might still be that big but he was no match for Hawai'i defensive lineman Viane Moala last weekend.

After Moala blocked a field goal in their 41-18 win over Western Carolina, Duggan celebrated with a jumping side/chest-bump. Moala sent him flying to the turf, where the impact broke his wrist and dislocated a shoulder.
"I’ve never seen anything like it . . . That’s just — as a new haole (non-native Hawaiian) guy on the island, that’s just not something you make a habit of. It’s a hard lesson to learn, but he’ll get through it," head coach Nick Rolovich said. “He’ll never forget it. And I’ll never let him forget it. I don’t care if I’m as gray as gray can be. He’ll hear it from me.”
