Sonny Dykes spent a lot of time in Lubbock, Texas, first as the son of former Texas Tech head coach Spike Dykes and later as an assistant coach under Mike Leach. He could've spent more time in Lubbock as head coach.
"There's a couple of times where I think I was probably pretty close to that job," Dykes said this week on the High Motor podcast. He also talked about being a bad fit at Cal and flirting with other jobs while in Berkeley.
