The new hydrotherapy area of Georgia Tech's football locker room was supposed to only include hot and cold tubs. Now they can add a swimming pool to it.
Georgia Tech began the $4.5-million locker room renovation project in January. Funded by an anonymous donor, the project includes new lockers, an AV systems and the hydrotherapy area. When tearing up the existing space to dig into the ground, contractors discovered a pool, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The 25-yard-long pool was in Heisman Gymnasium on the north end of Grant Field, which is now Bobby Dodd Stadium. The gym was demolished in 1995 but, clearly, they left behind the pool.

“They forgot, or they didn’t ask me about the pool that was underneath the football locker room,” said Georgia Tech athletics director Todd Stansbury, who played football for the Yellow Jackets from 1981-84.
Contractors had to make adjustments but the project is not delayed.
“They weren’t ready for (the pool) because it didn’t show up on any renderings, maps,” Stansbury added. “The old pool was a surprise they weren’t ready for.”
Keep it and become the only school with a 25-yard swimming pool in your locker room. It'd be quite the recruiting tool.
