The D3 football season is well underway, and while we've already seen some fantastic offensive and defensive performances in September, it's wise not to overlook incredible efforts on special teams.

From kickoff returns for touchdowns in back-to-back weeks to a perfect six for six on field goal attempts, here is my list of early season D3 football special team studs.

Kason Campbell — Montclair State
Two games, two kick returns for scores: Pretty impressive early-season showing by Kason Campbell.
The speedster torched Salve Regina in the season opener with a 92-yard TD kick return and followed that up with a second-half kickoff return score from 91 yards away last week against Southern Virginia.
Campbell goes for the hat trick this weekend as Montclair State looks to stay perfect against equally undefeated Christopher Newport.

Honorable Mention: Elijah Rehm of Rowan and Jake Wood of Nichols with a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns through three contests.

Owen Schommer — Wisconsin-River Falls
If the 6-4 Schommer keeps punting like this, he might find himself with a future invite to NFL camps.
After averaging around 35-yards per boot in 2017, the senior is averaging an incredible 48.2-yards-per kick through 17 punts in 2018. Most impressive were his 51.8 average and 76-yard monster punt in a week 2 contest versus Bethel.
Schommer already has half a dozen punts over 50 yards on the early season while pinning opponents inside their 20-yard line on six occasions.

Nick DiCairano — Endicott
Perfection at its finest.
Endicott's Nick DiCairano is the only kicker in D3 with a perfect six-of-six mark, including five of five on PATs to give him 23 points through three games.
He accounted for more than half of his team's points in the season opener and will look to continue his perfect ways during homecoming this weekend against Hobart.
According to his Instagram, he's certainly not shy about nailing clutch kicks when everyone is watching and the pressure is on. It will be interesting to watch him perform this year when the game is on the line.

Tyler Adamson — Whitworth
It's a good thing DiCairano hasn't faced Whitworth this season or else he might not possess a perfect field goal mark.
That's because 6-4, 270-pound offensive lineman Tyler Adamson has blocked an astounding three kicks in just two games. The 2016 First Team All-Northwest Conference honoree at left tackle is also the Pirates captain on offense this year. His efforts on both offense and special teams helped his squad jump out to a 2-0 mark as it uses a bye week to prepare for Linfield on September 29.
Honorable Mention: Cody Estep of Centre and Derrick Jennings Jr. of Wisconsin-Oshkosh who each have three blocked kicks through three games.
