Deshaun Watson wasn't the first, or even the second quarterback selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but his wait was well worth it.
The Houston Texans traded with the Cleveland Browns to jump to the No. 12 spot and drafted the former Clemson quarterback, finally cementing Watson's immediate future.
Over the last few months, Watson has been analyzed and broken down over and over again. I've always been adamant saying he was clearly the best signal caller in this year's draft class and feel like he landed in the perfect situation by going to Houston — a place with an above-average roster.
After he was drafted, the new NFL rookie took some time to read a letter from his mother. The result was emotional and inspiring.

Watson's fight through childhood to becoming a first-round NFL draft pick is like a story written for Hollywood film. He spent most of his early life in the projects of Gainesville, Fla. while being raised by a single mom. His mother — the only child of six siblings to finish high school — vowed to give a better life for her kids.
There were several significant events that led Watson to this point and Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel did a great job hashing out the timeline in a 2015 piece. Good for Watson and his family. He's going to make them proud.
Right now, there's no telling if the Clemson star will sit behind Tom Savage and learn the Houston offense or if he will be thrown into the fire.
The Houston coaching staff is already declaring Savage the starter, but we will see how long that lasts.
Either way, he will be reunited with former Tigers' star Deandre Hopkins and a young, impressive receiving corps. The Texans boasted one of the top defenses in the NFL last season, so maybe, just maybe, Bill O'Brien finally has the final piece to the puzzle.
