Jonathan Giles
Jonathan Giles, a three-star recruit in the 2015 class, exploded into the national college football picture as a Texas Tech sophomore in 2016. As Patrick Mahomes' top target, he averaged 16.8 yards on 69 receptions and had 13 touchdowns in only 11 games.
After spring practice in 2017, he announced a departure from Lubbock and, two weeks later, an arrival at LSU, where he was expected to be an explosive piece for a new-look Tigers' offense. That never happened. Giles sat out the 2017 season and caught only 10 passes last season. Now, two years after a late-spring transfer from Texas Tech, he's in the transfer portal.
When healthy and in the right role, he's one of the best receivers in the country.
Other transfer news: Three West Virginia safeties, including two starters, entered the transfer portal, and USC quarterback Matt Fink isn't transferring.

Sellouts
In March, Dennis Dodd reported on declining college football attendance: An average of 41,856 fans attended FBS games in 2018, the lowest number since 1996. While it wasn't a bombshell report with a new narrative, the numbers (and possible solutions) were interesting.
This week the Greenville News reported another interesting attendance number: Clemson didn't sell out any games last season. If Clemson didn't have any sellouts, they obviously didn't average a sellout. Only five programs accomplished the feat.
Oklahoma, Michigan, Nebraska, Georgia and Utah.

Balancing Balance Sheets
Inject college finance stories into my veins. The Star Tribune (Minneapolis) delivered a great breakdown of Minnesota's financial situation, which includes notes on Big Ten cash infusions vs. attendance issues.

Cocktail Party With Cocktails
The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, aka the annual Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville, has never included in-stadium alcohol sales (since the game moved to TIAA Bank Field in 1996). That, however, could change.
“We could always do what both schools desire to do, [but] alcohol has not been sold in the general seating at [previously] EverBank Field since we’ve played the game there (1996),” Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity told DawgNation.
McGarity's comments come one week after the SEC lifted the ban on in-stadium alcohol sales.

Jan Levinson…I Presume
The last two episodes of High Motor haven't included one minute of college football talk but they have included two spectacular guests, including Melora Hardin.
Hardin, aka Jan Levinson, talked about The Office reboot rumors, the Back to the Future debacle and more:

Remember When…
In the third quarter of Oklahoma's demolition of FAU in Week 1 last season, the umpire was sick of the Owls' horrific defense and laid out Sooners' receiver A.D. Miller.
