North Texas was one of the best stories in college football last season.
The Mean Green, who hadn’t finished a season better than .500 since 2018, had the No. 1 offense in the FBS with 512.4 yards per game. Led by Group of Five Player of the Year Drew Mestemaker, UNT went 11-1 during the regular season and made it to the American Conference Championship. The Mean Green fell to Tulane in that game but concluded the year with a victory over San Diego State in the New Mexico Bowl.
The future seemed bright for UNT. That was until head coach Eric Morris decided to go to Oklahoma State and Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins, and other star players left UNT via the transfer portal.
New head coach Neal Brown is still hoping to sustain that success at UNT, though. Here’s a look at how North Texas is doing in the transfer portal, per On3.
